Build Log

The question ForgeKit could not accept an answer to

September 29, 2026

An Actor asked the owner two real questions, the UI said 'Waiting on your reply', and there was no way to reply — in all four canvas apps.

Owner LoopCanvasMedinaCHFForemanOWNED
3
requests unstuck (waiting since Sep 4, Sep 20, Sep 30)
4
canvas apps given a working owner-reply path
43
new tests, all CI-wired
8
daily phantom emails eliminated

Timeline

Start
Charge: stop the email spam
Screenshot of ~50 Foreman alerts, many repeating the same admin_intent
Diagnosis
Cooldown was working; the DATA was wrong
Rows resolved Sep 6-7 still read execution_state='working' three weeks later
Mid
Zeb: a run came back red and Courtney's reply went nowhere
Run 36654428230 — Actor did everything right, step exited 1 anyway
Core find
The reply box only existed for shaping
A concluded, owner-blocked request had no input at all — all 4 canvas apps
Ship
Deployed canvas-1; 3 requests replyable
Foreman noise closed structurally, not by a manual UPDATE

What shipped

replyToActorClarification in experiments/canvas-1..4/lib/actions/requests.ts — the owner can finally answer a question the Actor asked mid-run

Canonical execution-lineage columns (execution_state, block_reason, blocked_at, owner_outcome) added to all four canvas Drizzle schemas — they existed in the live DBs and the Actor wrote them, but the apps could not read them

request_replies table in all four canvas schemas, created live in canvas-1 and canvas-2, with a partial unique index making a retried submission a no-op

Reply UI gated on the real canonical state in experiments/canvas-1/components/RequestPanel.tsx (and canvas-3/4), plus canvas-2's RequestHistoryList.tsx + Workspace.tsx prop chain

COORDINATOR_RESOLVES_TRANSITION in products/medinaCHF/lib/owner-loop-transitions.ts — resolve/dismiss/reject now write the canonical columns they silently omitted

A narrow no-op branch in forgekit-os/scripts/finalize-owner-intent.mjs so a request deliberately waiting on the owner stops reporting as a failed run

recheckResource() hook in forgekit-os/scripts/foreman/rules/stale-active-work.mjs + a second resolution pass in sweep.mjs — lets a non-exhaustive rule close a finding whose condition genuinely cleared

Two dry-run-first backfill scripts, both committed rather than run and discarded

43 tests across 4 new/updated suites, all wired into npm run test:os
